A University City man and a woman described as his transient companion were arrested early Friday in Spring Valley on suspicion of running a methamphetamine manufacturing lab out of a motor home, which contained 1 1/2 pounds of the drug, authorities said.

Frank C. Puente, 34, and Deborah Terlaje, 24, were booked into County Jail on suspicion of manufacturing the drug and of being under its influence, said a spokesman for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Richard Bolter from the Lemon Grove substation arrested the two after responding to a citizen’s complaint about 12:30 a.m. that a small motor home was “driving up and down” the 1600 block of Grand Avenue in Spring Valley, the spokesman said. Bolter pulled the driver over and reportedly smelled ether emanating from inside the vehicle.
