Bridge Linking Islands to Charleston Reopens

CHARLESTON, S.C. —
The only bridge linking the mainland and two barrier islands reopened to limited traffic Friday, two weeks after Hurricane Hugo ripped the span apart.
Residents of Isle of Palms and Sullivans Island, 10 miles outside Charleston, have used boats or taken ferries to their homes since the hurricane tossed one end of the swing bridge into the Intracoastal Waterway.
