College Roundup : Nevada Las Vegas Edges Irvine, 2-1

Jeff Wale scored two goals to lead Nevada Las Vegas to a 2-1 victory over UC Irvine Sunday in a Big West Conference soccer match at Irvine.

The Rebels (7-6 overall, 2-2 in conference) took the lead 4 minutes 32 seconds into the match when Wale, a junior midfielder from Cerritos, beat Irvine goalkeeper Mike Gartlan on a penalty kick. Midway through the first half, John Gunderson tied the score for Irvine (3-7-1, 0-3), with his fifth goal of the season. Wale scored the winning goal 4:15 into the second half on an assist by Cliff Odle.
