Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc. has named Barbara Bass as president and chief executive of its San Francisco-based Emporium division. Bass was chairman and chief executive of I. Magnin from 1987 to 1988. From 1980 to 1987 she was with Bloomingdale’s, most recently as executive vice president and general merchandise manager for women’s, ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories.
