NATION IN BRIEF : ALABAMA : Racial Brawl Erupts Inside High School

Racial tensions at a high school in the suburban Birmingham community of Adamsville exploded into a brawl between black and white students, leaving the principal and a 17-year-old student with minor stab wounds, officials said. The melee broke out during a morning meeting held to discuss several fights between black and white students. Between 75 and 100 people attended the gathering. Six students were arrested and later released into the custody of their parents.
