The Los Angeles Times has changed several aspects of its format. The changes are aimed at presenting a better organized newspaper, giving easier access to The Times’ comprehensive coverage. Among the changes:

* Highlights, on the front of each daily section except main news, summarizes what is in the section.

* The Top of Today’s News on A2 briefly spotlights important news from across the paper. It appears Sunday through Friday.

* Headlines, in many cases, include overview subheads that provide further explanation about the story.
