WORLD IN BRIEF : COLOMBIA : 2 Tied to Drug Trade Reportedly Arrested
A man convicted of drug trafficking in New York and an alleged accountant for one of Colombia’s powerful drug lords have reportedly been captured in separate raids in Colombia. Victor Eduardo Mera Mosquera, 36, was arrested Friday at his apartment in the southern city of Cali, according to Bogota newspapers. He was arrested in New York in February, 1984, and charged with taking part in a U.S. drug ring, but was mistakenly freed, the El Espectador newspaper said. In a raid in Bogota, police captured Tulia Consuelo Rincon Barrera, 35. They said she was an accountant for Gonzalo Rodriguez Gacha, one of the leaders of the Medellin cartel.
