Johnson Takes Over in Third Period, Leads Lakers Past SuperSonics, 119-98

ST. LOUIS — Magic Johnson scored 22 points, including 16 in the third quarter, to spark the Lakers to a 119-98 exhibition victory over the Seattle SuperSonics Sunday night.
The Lakers led, 50-43, at the half, and Johnson took charge in the third quarter. He scored seven straight points with a pair of three-point field goals and a free throw to put the Lakers ahead, 83-59, late in the quarter.
The SuperSonics went scoreless for the first five minutes of the fourth quarter and the Lakers easily increased their lead to 101-68.
Forward James Worthy added 19 points for the Lakers. Reserve guard Larry Drew had 14 points and forward A.C. Green had 13 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
Guard Dale Ellis led Seattle with 17 points. Rookie guard Dana Barros from Boston College had 16 points.
The Lakers improved their exhibition record to 4-0. Seattle is 0-2.
