Nurse’s Aide Guilty of Raping Comatose Girl
A jury took one day in deciding Wednesday that a nurse’s assistant was guilty of raping a comatose 11-year-old girl in a rehabilitation facility last Christmas morning.
Noel Sanchez, 23, of Clairemont was convicted of forcible rape and committing a forcible lewd act upon the girl, who was housed at the facility after a car accident Oct. 2, 1988.
Sanchez worked at the Lake Erie Institute of Rehabilitation, in a wing of the Alvarado Convalescent and Rehabilitation Hospital near La Mesa.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Laura Hammes set sentencing for Nov. 17. Sanchez faces a maximum state prison term of 13 years.
