Panel Endorses Cason

WASHINGTON — The Senate Agriculture Committee today endorsed the nomination of James Cason to oversee the 191-million-acre National Forest system and the Soil Conservation Service, moving the controversy over his Reagan Administration record as a “pro-exploitation” advocate closer to a showdown.
