Culver City : Officers’ Benefits Increase
The City Council voted to increase benefits for police officers Monday, ending a five-month dispute with the Culver City Police Officers Assn.
The three-year agreement, which passed 5 to 0, gives officers increases in uniform allowance, life insurance benefits and pay bonuses. The officers will also begin working four days a week, 10 1/2 hours a day, instead of five days a week, 8 1/2 hours a day, said Sgt. Hank Davies, president of the officers’ association.
Davies called the resolution fair to both sides.
“In return for some of the things we got, we gave up one day off a year,” he said.
Joseph Pannone, city attorney for Culver City, said the city was satisfied with the agreement. Salaries were not part of the negotiations.
