San Diego public television station KPBS and UC San Diego have received a $150,000 grant from Ford Motor Co. to produce a symposium and TV special featuring the last 11 presidential press secretaries (Pierre Salinger to Marlin Fitzwater) from the last seven administrations (Kennedy to Bush). The conference, “The Presidency, the Press and the People,” will be held Jan. 5-6 and moderated by John Chancellor of NBC News. The national broadcast will come along later in the spring.
