Singer Axl Rose Returns to Stage, Says He’s Sorry

Share

Guns ‘N Roses lead singer Axl Rose apologized on stage Thursday for quitting the rock band during a concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum the night before.

Rose rejoined the group for the second of its four scheduled appearances, removing doubt that Guns ‘N Roses would continue as the opening act for the Rolling Stones’ remaining Los Angeles concerts.

The singer, who had complained during Wednesday’s show about excessive drug use in the group, was greeted by a roar from the estimated 72,000 fans when he stepped into the spotlight Thursday after an anti-drug monologue by lead guitarist Slash.

“I just didn’t want to see my friends slip away,” Rose explained.

The Los Angeles band, which has sold more than 12 million albums in the last two years, has fueled controversy over its use of racial and sexual slurs on its record “One in A Million.”
