WORLD IN BRIEF : UNITED NATIONS : Aides Accuse Israel of Raiding Offices
U.N. officials accused Israeli authorities of violating U.N. immunity by raiding its offices in the occupied territories. U.N. Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar said he was awaiting a report from the U.N. Relief and Works Agency after learning that Israeli soldiers broke into the agency’s offices in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, detaining staff and confiscating documents. An Israeli official said several U.N. staff members were suspected of illegally channeling money and jobs to activists in the Arab uprising.
