CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : DANA POINT : Rape Suspect Faces New Counts
An unemployed construction worker accused of kidnaping and raping a Huntington Beach girl last month was charged with another sexual assault stemming from the attempted rape of a Dana Point teen-ager. Deputy Orange County Dist. Atty. Ariadne Symons said the second alleged attack occurred Sept. 7, about 2 1/2 weeks before Kyle Joseph Borges was arrested on suspicion of abducting a 12-year-old. In the Dana Point incident, a man entered an unlocked window of a home and went into the bedroom of a 14-year-old girl, a sheriff’s spokesman said. When attempts to muffle her screams failed and the girl’s mother woke, the man fled, authorities said. Borges, who is being held without bail in County Jail, is accused of 11 felonies. He has pleaded innocent.
