A weak storm is expected to reach San Diego today, bringing with it cloudy skies, lower temperatures and a 50% chance of rain, the National Weather Service said.

If rain does fall, it is expected to amount to less than a quarter of an inch, forecaster Frank Perdue said. The storm, which started in the Gulf of Alaska, is the same one that has battered Northern and Central California with heavy rains and strong winds.

Temperatures in the San Diego area are expected to drop, with coastal highs of 68 and overnight lows ranging into the mid-50s. Inland valleys will have highs of 71 today, with lows in the upper 40s overnight. High temperatures in the mountains will range from 48 to 56, with lows of 35 to 43. The deserts are expected to see highs of 74 to 82 and lows of 56 to 64.
