Hamstring Soreness Sidelines Scott

Laker guard Byron Scott, who still has periodic soreness from the left hamstring he tore on the eve of the National Basketball Assn. finals last June, sat out practice Tuesday.
But the Lakers said the lingering effects of the injury were expected, and the team’s starting guard should be in the lineup for the Nov. 3 season opener at Dallas. Scott said he hopes to resume practice today.
“It’s a little bit of a fatigue problem in that area,” Laker Coach Pat Riley said. “I think you have to be concerned. He tore it good, but the doctors say that (soreness) is normal. He’s got scar tissue now. We have to be cautious.”
Forward Orlando Woolridge, recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, began range-of-motion rehabilitation Tuesday. It is likely, however, that Woolridge will start the season on the injured list. Riley said the Lakers are still looking for another power forward but that “probably what you see here is what you’ll get. We may bring someone in for a tryout.”
