FHP International Corp.: The Fountain Valley-based operator of managed health care systems said net income for the first quarter of fiscal 1990 rose 67%, to $6.8 million from $4.1 million for the comparable three months last year. Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 increased 38%, to $210 million from $152 million. Robert Gumbiner, chairman of the company, said the growth in revenue and earnings was attributable to increased membership, cost containment, favorable hospital utilization and higher interest income.
