Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers will be featured when the Pasadena Symphony opens its 62nd season at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, 300 E. Green Street at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are from $12 to $28.
The program will include “Petrouchka” by Stravinsky, “Violin Concerto No. 5” by Vieuxtemps and “La Valse” by Ravel.
Meyers, 18, is the daughter of Richard Meyers, past president of Pasadena City College. She has already performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the New York String Orchestra and the Japan Philharmonic.
She began her musical studies when she was 4 and made her debut as a soloist with orchestra when she was 7. She attends Juilliard School of Music. Her 1989-’90 season will include tours of Japan, Korea and England.
