WORLD IN BRIEF : YUGOSLAVIA : Communist Party Hints of Reforms

A document adopted in Belgrade by the policy-setting Central Committee of the Yugoslav Communist Party said the party will support “the development of political pluralism (and) individual rights and freedoms of individuals.” The resolution also called for free elections, independence of the judiciary and the right of citizens to form political associations and trade unions. The platform stopped short of endorsing opposition political parties.
