And the Winner Is: “Zerograd,” a satire about life after glasnost in the Soviet Union by Soviet director Karen Chakhnazarov, has won the top award--the Gold Hugo--at the Chicago International Film Festival. “Birth,” a study of a father’s search for his missing son directed by India’s Shaji Karun, and “Death of a Teamaster,” a drama set in 17th-Century Japan directed by Kei Kumai, both earned Silver Hugos. Hong Kong director Alex Law’s “Painted Faces” won a Silver Hugo for best first feature. The festival continues through Thursday.
