Foothill Ranch: Home builders Bramalea California Ltd., William Lyon Co. and J.M. Peters Co. Inc. were picked to build houses at the 2,743-acre Foothill Ranch.
Foothill Ranch is a master-planned community in the Saddleback foothills just northeast of the spot in Irvine where the Santa Ana and San Diego freeways converge.
Sales of 3,900 new homes are expected to begin in 1990, said Foothill Ranch Co., which is part of Hon Development, a Laguna Hills developer said to be one of the largest landowners in the county.
Hon plans an additional 580 acres for stores, factories and warehouses.
