Two Canyon High School students died in separate traffic accidents in Canyon Country, one of them when she was struck by a car driven by schoolmate, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The pedestrian, Jill Hartman, 14, of Canyon Country, died Thursday after a 3:10 p.m. accident at Whites Canyon Road and Delight Street, about a quarter mile south of the high school, authorities said. She was in a crosswalk when she was struck by a Chevrolet Blazer driven by a 17-year-old Canyon Country boy, whose name was withheld.

He was not cited pending an investigation, Lt. Dennis Burns said.

On Wednesday, 17-year-old Manny Felix was killed when his speeding motorcycle struck a car turning in front of him near his home, the Sheriff’s Department reported.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at Soledad Canyon Road and Anne Freda Street, Sgt. Jack Barnes said.

Felix’s speed on the motorcycle, which was heading west on Soledad Canyon Road, was estimated at at least 80 m.p.h., Barnes said. The car he struck had been heading east and was turning left onto Anne Freda Street, Barnes said.

The collision spun the car 180 degrees and sent it crashing into another car, Barnes said. The drivers of the cars were not injured, he said.
