World : IN BRIEF : EUROPE : Malta Link Seen in Pan Am Bombing
Police have found evidence that the bomb that brought down a jetliner over Scotland last December, killing 270 people, was planted in Malta, the Sunday Times of London reported. Previously, investigators believed the bomb that was placed aboard Pan American Flight 103 originated in Frankfurt, West Germany. The baggage list reportedly showed that one suitcase was transferred from an Air Malta plane to the Pan Am plane in Frankfurt on the day of the tragedy. The newspaper said a pair of trousers in a suitcase believed to contain the bomb was traced to a Malta shop. No one has been charged in the bombing.
