Coming Attractions: Producer David Wolper, the force behind TV epics such as “Roots” and “The Thorn Birds,” is developing a movie about the Northern California earthquake for ABC. Wolper is in the early stages of research and will focus on acts of heroism connected with the devastating temblor. CBS and NBC said they have no plans to produce movies based on the Oct. 17 tragedy. . . . The Universal Pictures comedy “Uncle Buck,” which has grossed $61 million so far, is headed for life as a CBS sitcom. Writer-producer Tim O’Connell is developing the project.
