Stars and Stripes Now a ‘Hot’ Seller in Iran

NICOSIA, Cyprus —
Flag makers in revolutionary Iran are doing a roaring trade manufacturing the Stars and Stripes.
But they could never be accused of being unpatriotic for making the flags of the Islamic Republic’s No. 1 enemy, the United States.
One hundred and sixty U.S. flags are due to be ritually burned in Tehran today during celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the seizure of the American embassy in the Iranian capital.
“Burning U.S.flags has become a national pastime,” said a Middle East-based Iran watcher.
