NCR Wins Businessland Contract: NCR Corp. announced that it will supply personal computers to Businessland Inc., the biggest U.S. computer retailer, winning coveted shelf space in the lucrative PC market. NCR--which ranks about 10th in PC sales--will fight for market share with Businessland’s top supplier, International Business Machines. Last year, NCR had PC sales of about $480 million, but the Dayton, Ohio, company has been distributing the PCs mainly through its direct sales force rather than via retail outlets. It also unveiled a new range of high-powered PCs, intensifying the sales battle among U.S. computer giants.
