Hate Crimes in Public Schools

It comes as no surprise that the more than 1,000 incidents of racial, ethnic or religious bigotry occurred in public schools last year.

At a time when parents are opting for private schools, and discipline rather than education is the prime occupation for most teachers in public schools, how can we expect children to learn the meaning of coexistence and respect for other religions and ethnic groups? When it is deemed more important to pour money into other causes (military, foreign intervention, etc.) rather than the future of our nation, does it really come as a surprise that our children are becoming a liability rather than an asset to our country?
