Cincinnati Bengal linebacker Reggie Williams won his first City Council election.

Williams was recording the fourth-highest vote totals in an at-large election for nine City Council seats.

Williams had 42,645 votes, or 7.5% of the ballots counted.

Williams, 35, was completing a 17-month interim term after being appointed to fill a vacancy on the council in June 1988.
