Federated Group Talks Called Off: Fretter Inc., a Midwestern consumer electronics retailer, said it has called off negotiations to acquire Atari Corp.’s ailing Federated Group chain. A Fretter spokesman said his company had been negotiating to buy all 40 Federated consumer electronics stores, but when Atari agreed this week to sell its 26 Southern California stores to Silo Inc. of Philadelphia, Fretter was no longer interested in purchasing the remaining outlets.
