A General Motors Corp. executive and his wife were missing and feared kidnaped after an apparent break-in at their home in an affluent suburban Detroit neighborhood, authorities said Friday.

Glenn Tarr, 53, a mid-level manager and a 28-year GM employee, and his wife, Wanda, 57, were missing when police arrived at their home Friday. The two-story house had been ransacked, officials said.

The FBI said the break-in apparently occurred sometime between Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Valuables, including jewelry and guns, were missing from the home, as were two cars from the garage, officials said.

Tarr, assistant manager of marketing, information and research for GM’s Chevrolet division, did not report for work Friday morning, said GM spokesman Ralph Kramer. Tarr’s wife sells insurance.

The couple lived alone in the Chateau Hills subdivision north of Detroit. They have three grown children. All are accounted for.
