A 34-year-old man was kidnaped and robbed of his possessions, including his car, by three hitchhikers Saturday morning, a sheriff’s department spokesman said.
Rolando Bautista Torres picked up three Hispanic men at 7 a.m. in San Diego on Highway 94 near Home Avenue and agreed to drive them to Jamul.
Upon reaching Jamul, one man grabbed Torres and began choking him. The men proceeded to take Torres’ wallet, watch and shoes before stuffing him in the trunk of the car, where he remained for 3 to 5 minutes, the spokesman said.
The victim opened the trunk from the inside and shouted for help. The suspects stopped the car and Torres then ran to a house near Pioneer Way and Sage mountain in Jamul.
