The heiress of a margarine fortune and her Colombian co-defendant were convicted of cocaine distribution and conspiracy and face a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Prosecutors said Sandra Filbert Amos, the granddaughter of the founder of Mrs. Filbert’s Margarine, helped her live-in boyfriend set up the drug ring because she loved him and wanted to overcome his feeling that the disparity in their incomes harmed their relationship.

Sentencing, ironically, was sent for Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

Also convicted Thursday was Guillermo Moran, a Colombian living in New York City. Amos’ boyfriend, Jeremiah Dennis Case, had already pleaded guilty to drug charges and is awaiting sentencing.
