Longs Drug Stores: The retail chain said third-quarter net income rose 9% to $12.7 million. Sales totaled $510 million, up 11% from the same period a year ago. Three new stores were opened during the quarter. The Walnut Creek, Calif., company said the results included about $700,000 in charges related to the Oct. 17 Bay Area Quake, including damage to merchandise, store repairs and charitable donations.
