Ravaged Carolina Coast Struck by 7-Foot Tides

CHARLESTON, S. C. — A higher-than-normal tide of 7 feet washed against South Carolina’s hurricane-scarred shoreline Tuesday, the second abnormal high tide in as many months, but did little damage to the 187-mile coast.
“Winds were just about calm yesterday and today. There was no wave action and no serious erosion,” National Weather Service meteorologist Bob Simpson said.
