Talk Show Host Suspended: KFI-AM’s Christopher Bartlett was suspended indefinitely from the station Wednesday for using an offensive racial epithet on his show Tuesday night. Listeners reported that Bartlett initially denied saying it, then later apologized on the air after people called in to complain. He said it was “a slip of the tongue.” The station denounced Bartlett’s remark Wednesday in a statement that said he “made the comments out of context and then denied having made them which is a violation of internal policy.” Bartlett, an Australian national who has lived in the United States less than six months, said he was not immediately aware that his remarks would offend American listeners. He has offered “sincere apologies to all KFI listeners” as have KFI executives. KFI talk show host Joe Crummey will replace Bartlett temporarily.
