Hewlett-Packard Co.: The Palo Alto computer company said net income in fiscal 1989 rose 2% to $829 million. Revenue totaled $11.9 billion, up 21% from fiscal 1988. The company cited several non-recurring expenses that affected earnings: the acquisition of Apollo Computer; a $6-million charge to offset the fourth-quarter effects of the Apollo acquisition on employee payouts under the company’s cash profit-sharing plan, and a $9-million charge to cover costs related to the Oct. 17 Bay Area Quake.
