For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen:

* Clean up fallen camellia blooms to prevent petal blight disease from spreading.

* Don’t prune deciduous trees and shrubs yet; wait until they are completely dormant in December and January.

* When fruit trees lose their leaves, it’s time to give them a fall cleanup spraying.

* As your bulbs start peeking through the soil with tender new growth, protect them from birds and snails.
