Tornado-Hit Alabama Declared Disaster Area

WASHINGTON —
President Bush declared Friday that a major disaster exists in the state of Alabama, clearing the way for federal aid to repair the damage caused by a killer tornado earlier last week.
The tornado hit Nov. 8 and cut a four-mile-long swath of destruction through Huntsville, Ala., killing at least 17 people and injuring at least 463.
