2,400 Attend Rites in L.A. for Priests
About 2,400 people attended two memorial Masses in Los Angeles on Sunday for the six Jesuit priests slain last week in El Salvador. Archbishop Roger M. Mahony presided.
More than 900 people filled the Sacred Heart Chapel at Loyola Marymount University, a Jesuit college, on Sunday morning. A few hours later, Mahony said a Spanish-language Mass before 1,500 people, mostly Latino immigrants, at St. Vincent’s Church near downtown.
