NATION IN BRIEF : THE EAST : 2 Die in High Winds; Blizzard Is Forecast

Howling winds gusting up to 60 m.p.h. caused two deaths, damaged property and cut off power to nearly 300,000 customers in the Eastern states as cold air from Canada dumped snow from the Great Lakes to New England. A public school principal was killed when a tree was blown down in the school parking lot at Montclair, N.J. In Baltimore, an 81-year-old woman died when a warehouse was blown over onto her brick home. The National Weather Service posted blizzard warnings for New Hampshire and most of Maine, where up to 15 inches of snow was expected.
