Michael Chandler, Wendy Hoover Wed

Wendy Priscilla Hoover and Michael Otis Chandler exchanged marriage vows on Saturday in the presence of the Rev. Canon J. Ralph Deppen and members of the immediate families, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Chandler of Malibu.

Attendants included Miss Diana Dorothy Hoover, the bride’s sister, and Norman Chandler, who served as his brother’s best man.

The new Mrs. Chandler is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, where she obtained an advanced certificate in interior design. She owns W. P. Hoover Designs in Dana Point.

Her parents are Mrs. Priscilla Ward Hoover of Dana Point, an employment counselor, and H. Earl Hoover II of Palm Springs and Santa Fe, N.M., a financial consultant and former director of the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Co. of North Canton, Ohio.

The bridegroom, a fifth-generation Californian, studied at Orange Coast College and is a four-year veteran of the Indianapolis 500, having also raced successfully in Super Vee, IMSA and motocross events.

He has been working with the production department of the Los Angeles Times since 1975.

Chandler’s parents are Mrs. Malcolm Stuart of Bel-Air, an urban planner and founder of the Southern California Population Crisis Committee, and Otis Chandler, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Times Mirror Co. and former publisher of the Los Angeles Times.

His great-great-grandfather, Gen. Harrison Gray Otis, founded the Times Mirror Co. in 1884.
