Not Hard to Figure Appeal of Notre Dame

I was amused by Jack McGinley’s letter about Notre Dame (Nov. 18, 1989). Mr. McGinley asks, “Why would Baptist players go to a Catholic school just to take ‘American studies’ or ‘undergraduate studies?’ ”

I suggest he consult the U.S. News & World Report study that lists Notre Dame among the top 25 universities in the country.

To answer his question, perhaps it’s for the education!
