GARDEN GROVE : Coroner Confirms Fire Scene Homicide

Share

A blow to the head killed a Garden Grove woman, whose murderer apparently tried to cover up the evidence by setting fire to the house, police said.

An autopsy was conducted Friday on the charred remains of Claudia Chase, 28, a well-liked student teacher at nearby Pacific High School, which she once attended as a student herself.

Her body was discovered by firefighters Thursday afternoon as they battled the fire in the house.

Garden Grove police said the coroner determined that the woman had suffered a fatal head injury.

At the soot-marred family home on Cerulean Avenue, one family member who did not give his name said that he had not heard any new information from police detectives indicating the indentity of the killer.

Police would not say whether an arrest was imminent.
