United Way Grants Boost Literacy Effort
The United Way of Orange County has announced grants totaling $35,000 to six programs that combat illiteracy in Orange County.
The grants were made available through a special gift from Peter Ochs, chairman of United Way’s Alexis de Tocqueville Society and president of the Fieldstone Co.
The programs benefitting from the grants include Camp Fire’s “Friday Night Prime Time,” which will receive $5,000 to help promote reading skills among fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders, and Gary Center, which serves Latino families.
