1,700 Homes, Businesses Blacked Out
A power outage at 1:05 p.m. Saturday darkened 1,700 homes and businesses in Santa Ana, including Nordstrom and Robinson’s department stores in MainPlace/Santa Ana.
The outage resulted from a three-way splice at 17th and Main streets that malfunctioned, said Tony Aguilar, area manager of Southern California Edison Co.
“It’s hard to determine what would cause that to go bad,” he said, adding that weather was not a factor.
Service was restored after 53 minutes to the major department stores and to all but 50 customers by 3:30 p.m., he said.
