Driver Dies After Pickup Hits Tree
A 28-year-old man was killed after he lost control of his pickup truck and slammed into a tree in Thousand Oaks, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department reported Sunday.
The accident occurred at 11:45 p.m. Saturday as Del Ferguson and a companion, Lisa Cardomone, 27, were returning from a wedding reception, said Sgt. Bruce Hansen. Cardomone suffered minor injuries.
Hansen said Ferguson turned off the Ventura Freeway onto Lynn Road. A witness told deputies that Ferguson, of Thousand Oaks, ran a red light and lost control of his vehicle, striking a tree in the center divider.
Ferguson, who was thrown out of his truck, was pronounced dead on arrival at Los Robles Medical Center, Hansen said.
