Harvey Hart; Canadian Film, TV Director
TORONTO — Canadian film maker Harvey Hart, who directed episodes of “Columbo” and television miniseries, including “East of Eden,” died of a heart attack Nov. 21 at the age of 61.
Hart, a pioneer director with CBC-TV, won a Golden Globe Award for “East of Eden,” an adaptation of the John Steinbeck novel.
His Canadian movies included “Fortune and Men’s Eyes” and his U.S. work included the pilots for the series “Judd for the Defense” and “The Young Lawyers.”
Producer Victor Solnicki, who developed several projects with Hart, said the Toronto-born film maker “was proudest of his work during the golden years of CBC-TV drama.”
