Former Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos and his wife, Imelda, illegally diverted $15 million in U.S. aid funds to a personal bank account in Switzerland, federal prosecutors charged in documents filed in U.S. District Court in New York. The allegedly stolen money was used to pay debts related to the secret purchase of several New York office buildings by the Marcoses and to buy valuable works of art in the United States, the Justice Department papers said.
