Vietnamese Leader Reportedly Ailing

TOKYO —
Vietnamese Communist Party chief Nguyen Van Linh suffered a stroke and is hospitalized in Ho Chi Minh City, it was reported Wednesday.
Japan’s Kyodo News Service, quoting unidentified sources, said Prime Minister Do Muoi has temporarily taken over as party general secretary.
Linh, 72, was hospitalized first in Hanoi, the capital, and then in Ho Chi Minh City after his return Oct. 24 from a visit to East Germany, Kyodo said, quoting sources in Hanoi.
